Lately went to buy eggs in the supermarket and discovered the prices of eggs went up like 20%. Back in almost Oct last year, 1 dozen of eggs only sold around $1.8/box. Now it's already $2.2/box minimum. Don't know what caused such a hike, but I went online and googled to find out why. Though I did not find the main cause for the price hike, yet I discovered a lot of information, the USDA (US Department of Agriculture) has programs covering/ maintening the prices of Agricultural products in the US markets. One thing interesting was someone in the Washington, D.C would watch the nationwide eggs market prices every week and report them weekly in 3~4page PDF report. I came across this thing, a lot of folks were talking about terrorism in this nation, don't know if affecting our daily intake (agricultural products) how deadly it could be.
Lastly, the average egg prices in CA is generally higher than anywhere else in the nation; so if you have business sense, think about smuggling eggs from other states and sell it--hehe, just kidding because you can't sell livestock like that. And also, so far I saw only CA carrying the Jumbo grade eggs, the largest size in the other states was only Extra Large grade. FYI.....
Last night, I picked up my younger sister's friend, who is getting ready to go Costa Rica for an expedition.
Somehow I gained a lot more information about solo travel, or backpack travelling.
The most painstaking part of traveling is lodging, because lodging was not cheap anywhere in the US. But she told me about this book---Lonely Planet.
I checked the website, here it is: www.lonelyplanet.com
Then I found economic lodging from Hostels International as well, here is the website: www.hiusa.org If you like the idea of traveling around, just pick it up and go. Perhaps you found great experience!
